Tried to watch Maple's edit and stopped watching halfway through. It's all so fast-paced, you almost can hardly blink. The book can fit perfectly in 1 or even 2 part structure but The Hobbit trilogy does not. What makes The Hobbit trilogy work imo is the dynamic between the characters. Certain stories depend on that dynamic to work.

While it definitely is a better way to watch the Hobbit than the originals, 100%, I do find it a bit hard to be the "end all be all" way to watch the Hobbit when: (Starting off with the biggest problems, the smaug sequence) There are several intercuts during Bilboâs scene with Smaug, ruining the tension and atmosphere.
